Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival Athens After a long trip enjoy some free and relaxing time at your hotel or walk on your own to discover the area.

Day 2

Acropolis & Acropolis Museum and Athens Sightseeing tour (Optional Sounion Tour) Your second day begins with a visit to the magnificent Parthenon temple dedicated to the maiden goddess Athena, on top of Acropolis rocky hill overlooking Athens. You will continue with a visit to the New Acropolis Museum, a true architectural marvel to admire archaeological findings. Later your guide will walk you through Athens most important sites. Today you will have an optional tour to Poseidon’s Temple at Cape Sounion and make pictures during the famous sunset showering the temple.

Day 3

Corinth Canal-Epidaurus and Nafplion Today you will leave Athens and your first stop will be the Corinth Canal, a true engineering miracle where thousands of Ships cross to enter Aegean sea from the Ionian Sea. Our next stop will be a t the ancient theater of Epidaurus. This colossal theater can accommodate up to 15,000 people it has exceptional acoustics from every seat without the use of a microphone. It has beautiful symmetry and absolute beauty. Final destination is Naflpion a beautiful city and capital of the first Hellenic republic. On the very top of Nafplion city you will notice the Venetian fortress of Palamidi 216 meters high up. There are 999 steps to reach the top.

Day 4

Mycenae, Ancient Olympia and Nafpaktos Our journey continues towards the Ancient city of Mycenae it was first mentioned at the scripts of Homer at the Epic of Iliad and Odyssey. It had a dominant position in the development of Classical Greek culture. Witness the engineering and creative genius of the Lion Gate and the Treasury of Atreus. Ancient Olympia, is where the Olympic Games have their roots. The first Olympic games where organized to honor Zeus. It is the place where every 4 years the Olympic Flame is lit traditionally from the reflection of sunlight in a parabolic mirror just in front of the temple of Hera. Last stop is Nafpaktos main attraction is the port and castle surrounded by seaside cafes and shops. The Castle situated at the top of the hill has two walls that go all the way down to the port. Your will also find the statue of Miguel de Cervantes famous Spanish novelist and poet, to honor him for his participation at the Battle of Lepanto and the defeat of Ottoman fleet.

Day 5

Delphi & Kalambaka Today you drive up to Delphi where the most important oracle of Classical Greek world is situated and also a major site for the worship of God Apollo. Although before all that it was a place of worship for Gaea (Mother Earth). Pythia was the sibyl priestess of Delphi, many generals from all over Greece would bring her offerings and seek her prophecies concerning important strategic matters. Your day will end at Kalambaka.

Day 6

Meteora to Athens Meteora meaning in the middle of the sky is a complex of Greek Orthodox monasteries, one of the most important and largest in Greece. It consists of 24 monasteries built at the top of these challenging to access let alone to build sandstone peaks. After the visit to the monastery we continue to Athens for Overnight.

Day 7

Optional One day Cruise Today you have a free day to explore Athens on your own or to Join a One Day Cruise to the Islands of Hydra, Poros and Aegina

Day 8

Departure Transfer to the Airport for your flight back home.
